Donatello di Niccolò di Betto Bardi (Florence, 1386 – Florence, 1466)
Italian sculptor, he worked in Florence, Siena and Padua with various techniques such as stiacciato, bas-relief and round sculpture using different materials such as marble, bronze and wood. He definitively left the Gothic style and went beyond Roman and Greek art. Among his main works there are: The David in bronze, the Porta della Mandorla (Cathedral of Florence), and the statues of St. Mark and St. John the Evangelist
